NEW YORK -- Leander Paes won his eighth Grand Slam mens doubles title Sunday, teaming with Radek Stepanek to defeat Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares 6-1, 6-3 in the final of the U.S. Open. Paes, of India, and Stepanek, of the Czech Republic, knocked out the Bryan brothers in a three-set semifinal to deny the Americans the chance to become the first mens doubles team in 62 years to win all four majors in the same year. This is the second title for the Paes-Stepanek pairing. They also won the 2012 Australian Open. Stepanek had neck surgery early in the year.
